Micron Technology Inc, the Boise, Idaho memory chip maker, yesterday opened its first Micron Europe Ltd UK facility, an 11,283 square feet design center which will work on new embedded process and core designs for global markets. The Bracknell design center, at the heart of the UK’s Thames Valley computer industry region, joins an existing UK facility belonging to Crucial Technology, a Micron subsidiary, and the company’s other European base, the Avezzano, Italy chip fab. Micron declined to give details of staffing and investment levels at Bracknell, but a spokesperson said that it hopes to continue to grow the design center, recruiting new staff and building new facilities later next year.
