Continuing to demonstrate that it’s a whole lot more than just a memory chip maker these days, Boise, Idaho-based Micron Technology Inc is pitching for a slice of the business being generated by the Internet, and has formed a new division, Micron Internet Services to bring the Internet to the famous potato fields of Idaho. The new division is planned to offer a full complement of Internet services, initially in Idaho, to commercial, educational and governmental organisations. As an internal group of Micron Technology, the unit has been providing Internet services for over three years to Micron Technology and several of its subsidiaries, including Micron Computer Inc. It says it will now offer dial-up service at speeds of up to 28.8Kbps, ISDN and Frame Relay connections, Internet training and consulting, Domain services and Internet Presence design and management.
