Chandler, Arizona-based Microchip Technology Inc reports that litigation in which Intel Corp had charged General Instrument Corp and Microchip with patent infringement over the marketing of EPROM products and they had in turn alleged patent infringement and anti-trust violation by Intel, has been settled: the dispute had prompted a US International Trade Commission investigation over alleged infringement of Intel patents by two EPROM products imported by the General and Microchip, as well as litigation in courts in the US and the UK, all of which have been resolved by the settlement, with none of the parties admitting liability; the only details revealed were that General Instrumnet and Microchip have been granted a licence under the Intel patents and Intel has been granted a licence under the General Instrument Corp patents.
