MicroAge Inc, the Tempe, Arizona systems integrator that recently inked deals to assemble and test UltraSparc server engines for Sun Microsystems Inc and personal computers for Digital Equipment Corp (CI Nos 3,119 and 3,020) reported second-quarter net earnings per share up 85% at $0.37 – nearly 20% better than the $0.31 Wall Street was expecting. Net income soared 94% to $6m on revenue up 20% at $1.04bn. Midterm net income increased 125% to $10.7m on revenue up 15% at $1.9bn. Earnings per share rose 113% to $0.66 for the half-year. The company’s balance sheet looks better, too as current assets are up 22% over a year ago at $748m, and cash reserves are up 44% at $30.7m.
