Software house Micro Systems Ltd has teamed up with Sanyo Electric Co to produce the smallest laptop computer so far in Japan: the machine, known as The Book measures just 11.7 by 8.3 by 1.8 and weighs only 5 lbs 5 oz: it is described as IBM PS/2-compatible (clearly the Model 30, since it uses an 8MHz 80C86 processor) and can also run software written for the Japanese Toshiba J3100 lap-top, and English software written for IBM XT; it will sell for around $2,000 with MS-DOS and a Japanese dictionay embedded in ROM.
