Micro Focus Plc’s enticement for the Compec throngs yesterday was a Cobol/2 Software Development Kit to enable software houses to develop applications for the OS/2 operating system under MS-DOS. As well as the Cobol/2 compiler, certified to ANSI ’85 standard under OS/2, the kit includes the XM extended memory program for MS-DOS micros, a new Xilerator object code debugger that displays assembler code line by line – and displays other languages as assembler – as well as Cobol; Cobol/2 Edit; and a Run Time Environment. Cobol/2 supports nine dialects – as well as Micro Focus’ own versions, it supports IBM OS/VS and VS Cobol II, Austec’s RM/Cobol, Data General Interactive Cobol, and IBM PC Cobol 1, as well as IBM’s Systems Applications Architecture. Out now, the kit sells for UKP1,150.
