MICRO FOCUS SAYS NEW FOCUS SHOULD BRING PROFITS

By CBR Staff Writer

Cobol experts Micro Focus Plc attributes its return to profitability and encouraging interim growth on an improved strategy and the broadening of its business. The six months to July 31 saw the Newbury, UK company reporting net profits up at 3.4m pounds from losses of 9.4m pounds, while revenues increased 21.1% to 41.3m pounds. President and chief operating officer, Martin Waters said that the introduction of new products, a broadening of service offerings, the employment of new staff and the upgrading of its infrastructure has all contributed the company’s growth. The London and Nasdaq listed firm said at the end of its last fiscal year that fourth quarter results signaled a turnaround in its business (CI No 3,115).
