Micro Focus Plc has now acquired CICSVS86, a CICS application development and testing environment that it has licensed and marketed since 1987 as the Micro Focus CICS Option. It has paid a total of $3m for the source code and complete rights to CICSVS86 and took over outstanding licence agreements from the originator, Innovative Solutions Inc of Denver, Colorado. Micro Focus will no longer have to pay royalties to Innovative and has full control and responsibility for development, product support and future enhancements for the product, which is sold as an add-on to Cobol/2 Workbench.
