Panelhigh Ltd, the London-based distributor of Micro Data Base Systems’ software products, has launched two new offerings in the UK. Object/1 is a front-end development tool providing access to a number of databases via the Presentation Manager user interface of OS/2 or via Microsoft Windows. The package includes a range of programming and debugging tools, a forms painter and graphical reporting facilities. Panelhigh says that it is IBM Systems Application Architecture-compliant and is based on Object Oriented Programming techniques which encapsulate data and code modules as re-usable methods. The second product, MDBS IV, is a database management system designed for applications where there is a requirement to manipulate large quantities of data. It operates in several environments including MS-DOS, Unix and DEC’s VAX/VMS. It is based on Data Definition Language with a dictionary-driven Data Management System engine. MDBS IV has a number of development tools including a database administration utility, query and report development system with SQL, an interactive data manipulation language, a database restructuring system, and a recovery and transaction logging component. No prices were given.
