The contract is to enable the telecom operators for a smooth migration to 2.5 and third generation (3G) wireless technologies, both of which will provide increased voice capacity and data rates. The network expansion will aid future growth for Bajacel, Movitel, Norcel and Cedetel, the four operating companies in the North of Mexico.

We have plans to build out and expand the CDMA network in Northern Mexico, and we are confident Motorola will continue to support our needs of top quality digital network infrastructure, support services and terminals, said the CEO of the four operating companies in a press statement.

This deal is the second for Motorola in Northern Mexico in a year.
