METROWERKS SIGNS UP WITH MICROSOFT FOR VISUAL SOURCESAFE 5.0

By CBR Staff Writer

Software development tools company Metrowerks Inc has signed an agreement to become the exclusive licensee of Microsoft Corp’s Visual SourceSafe 5.0 version control and configuration management system for the Macintosh. The Austin, Texas-based company will base future versions of its MW CodeManager product on Visual SourceSafe. Mertrowerks hopes to make the product the standard for version control on the Macintosh. The current version of MW CodeManager – said to enable the management of millions of lines of code in hundreds of files – is based on Visual SourceSafe Version 4.0 via a non-exclusive agreement, and costs $400 from Metrowerks distributors.
