Metrologie International SA’s Madrid-based subsidiary, Metrologie Iberica, has signed an agreement with Digital Equipment Espana SA, whereby it will distribute DEC’s servers and workstations throughout Spain on a wholesale basis. Metrologie announced that it will create a special division to attend to this new business area and it has signed up 35 value-added resellers. DEC Espana marketing director Santiago Cortes commented: This agreement represents a big step towards becoming the leader in the server and workstation market. Our commitment to this segment is such that we require the support of a distribution channel that can provide high added value. Metrologie Iberica managing director Antonio Aguilar confirmed that $720,000 would be invested in the new division, which aims to turn over $8m by the end of the first fiscal year. DEC will thus become Metrologie’s main partner and will account for 15% of the latter’s turnover, forecast at some $54m for the 1996 fiscal year.
