METATOOLS-FRACTAL DESIGN MERGER APPROVED

Shareholders of visual computing companies MetaTools Inc and Fractal Design Corp have agreed to the merger between the two firms announced in February (CI No 3,099). The new company is to be renamed MetaCreations Corp, based in Carpinteria, California, and anticipates a $9m charge in the quarter ending June 30, 1997.
