Metastorm noted it is one of only ten companies in the Microsoft Business Process Alliance, and that it was chosen because it recently announced support for the new 2007 Microsoft Office system desktop applications within the Metastorm BPM suite, and had existing support for BizTalk Server 2006. Metastorm said it also takes advantage of the new features of Windows Workflow Foundation in the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 for human-centric tasks.

As a result of its participation in the Business Process Alliance, there is Metastorm BPM integration with the Microsoft BizTalk Business Rules Engine.

Metastorm also offers an extension to the BizTalk Server 2006 Rules Designer that allows it to provide test cases and facts that may be used while building policies in BizTalk Server, and the Integration Wizard in the Metastorm BPM Process Designer enables policies to be selected from the BizTalk Server rules repository and run by a Rules stage in a Metastorm BPM process. The Metastorm BPM Process Engine can call these rules and the process will take the appropriate action based on the values returned by the BizTalk 2006 Business Rules Engine.

There is also process integration across both Metastorm BPM and BizTalk Server, Metastorm BPM integration with BizTalk Business Activity Monitoring or BAM Services, Metastorm BPM integration with the BizTalk SOA platform as well as the Metastorm BPM interface for 2007 Microsoft Office.
