MetaInfo Inc has unwrapped an intranet news collaboration server for NT it figures to get to market by the end of January. MetaInfo’s NewsChannel server is the first piece of an NT server suite, code named Enchilada, that the Seattle company’s building to manage the mass of information flooding cyberspace. NewsChannel, at $800 per server, enables companies to set up and manage internal forums for its workers as well as channel their access to Internet newsgroups. An add-on code named Sorcerer, due out in the second quarter of the year, will add push capabilities to deliver automatically information based on user- defined profiles. The whole Enchilada system is scheduled for the third quarter, with support for the Simple Message Transfer Protocol, Web pages, Open Database Connectivity and file data sources.
