METAFLOW TO MAKE ECL SPARC, USE IT IN 100 MFLOPS STATION

Metaflow Technologies Inc, owned by Elan Industries Inc, is planning to build a swperworkstation rated at 100 MIPS and 100 MFLOPS for launch in April – and has signed an agreement with Sun Microsystems Inc that allows it to make an ECL version of the Sparc RISC microprocessor for use in the new machine. It has also taken a licence for Sun’s SunOS Unix. The multiprocessor will be pitched at engineering users of mainframes.
