New York-based MessageLabs struck a deal with Cupertino, California-based Symantec to bundle the Brightmail technology acquired by Symantec in June 2004 with its existing Skeptic predictive anti-spam technology, in order to make use of Symantec’s 17 message filtering technologies.

The results have now been released in the form of MessageLabs Anti-Spam version 4.0, a fully managed security service that also includes a new Site Manager off-site quarantine facility, as well as improved connection-based filtering.
