New York-based MessageLabs will combine its own Anti-Spam Service with the Brightmail technology that Cupertino, California-based Symantec acquired along with Brightmail Inc. in June 2004.

MessageLabs will combine Symantec’s Brightmail Anti-Spam 6.0 spam filtering technology with its own Skeptic predictive anti-spam technology and will deliver a new service based on the results in the fourth quarter.

According to MessageLabs, the combined solution will use a number of Symantec’s 17 message filtering technologies, enabling the service provider to focus its own development resources on combatting unknown and dynamic threats.
