Risk arbitrage lives! T Boone Pickens’ Mesa Limited Partnership has bought additional shares to take its stake in Singer Co to 9.9% from the 4.4% holding it announced in August: Mesa said it bought the shares purely on the prospect of further appreciation and had no desire to take control of the company, currently under a $50 a share, $1,100m, offer from an investment group that’s led by Paul Bilzerian.
