The Meridiana Group, an airline group based in Italy, has signed a five-year contract with Lufthansa Systems, a German IT provider for the airline and aviation sector, to use its package of aeronautical IT solutions.

The Meridiana Group will  for Italy-based Meridiana and Eurofly.

According to Lufthansa Systems, Lido OC uses a large number of parameters to automatically calculate optimal flight routes. By optimizing flight planning, Lido OC reduces fuel consumption and delivers significant cost savings.

Lufthansa Systems will host the system in its own data center and ensure safe and reliable data transfer to Meridiana’s and Eurofly’s headquarters in Olbia and Milan. Lido RouteManual navigation charts include graphical representations of take-off and landing procedures as well as true-to-scale geographic information such as terrain features and rivers. All relevant information is color-coded, enabling pilots to see them at a glance.

The Lido navigation database is also the basis for Lufthansa Systems’s FMS data which include all route information including altitude and airport data for optimizing routes and supporting autopilots on board modern aircraft. They are updated and organized monthly and can be customized to specific routes and for use in any type of aircraft.
