The Meridian International Ltd computer leasing arm of Inspectorate International AG of Zurich wants to diversify its business into the DEC market to complement its IBM business, and to that end has acquired the DEC division of Electronic Brokers Ltd for an undisclosed sum. The unit does about UKP5m a year, hardly making Meridian a major DEC player overnight, but the IBM leaser sees substantial prospects for synergistic growth from the fact that many IBM users now also have DEC VAXes installed.
