Meridian Data Inc of Scotts Valley, California has a new Meridian Visual CD that automates installation, management and operation of multimedia CD-ROM titles in a Windows environment and simplifies information access from multimedia Photo CDs, audio CDs and data CD-ROMs. The program automatically scans the inserted disk, identifies it, and prompts the user. It loads and organises information and provides the necessary tools to review the disk’s contents. As new disks are inserted, Visual CD adds them to a library. When clicking on a specific file, photo or track, the application indicates which physical disk to insert in the drive. It supports normal editing functions, so files can be organised into groups and audio tracks to be sequenced for playback and costs $70.
