MERCK ORDERS CRAY SUPERCOMPUTERS

Merck & Co Inc ordered three supercomputers from Cray Research Inc for use in pharmaceutical research and drug discovery. A Cray T916 will be installed at the Merck Research Laboratory in Rahway, New Jersey and Cray J916se and J98se machines will be delivered to laboratories in West Point, Pennsylvania and Montreal respectively. Merck plans to run both proprietary and commercial software programs, Cray said. The purchase prices of the new computers was not given.
