Memsic has completed the construction of a new manufacturing facility and R&D centre in Wuxi, China, which is expected to serve as MEMS technology hub for Memsic China, to expand R&D and application engineering resources for the development of smart sensor offering products and for providing technical support to customers.

The company said that the newly finished facility encompasses 224,000sqft, including a 130,000sqft manufacturing facility and a 94,000sqft R&D institute. The two new buildings are adjacent to the company’s current manufacturing facility in Wuxi, which encompasses 45,000sqft and has been in operation since 2004.

Memsic said that the new manufacturing facility brings its total manufacturing space to 175,000sqft and combined with its existing facility, provides sufficient capacity to meet the increased demand the company forecasts for its sensor components in the next few years.

Yang Zhao, chairman, president and CEO of Memsic, said: “Throughout our company’s history, Memsic has been at the forefront of micro-electrical-systems industry. Much of our success is attributable to the fact that we are always ahead of the technological curve, turning new ideas and trends into actual products.

“We are excited to have completed this facility, which has the infrastructure we need to develop innovative, affordable multi-sensor solutions at an effective scale for our customers worldwide. It positions us to accommodate the growth we project over the next five years.”
