It’s still a bit early to call the Great Chip Recession of 1994 yet, but another indicator that the market may be going off the boil has been indentified by Kidder Peabody & Co analyst Jonathan Joseph, who says that spot market prices for memory chips are coming into line with contract prices, which is generally seen as a cautionary signal in the market – we are not looking for a collapse of the industry, but we do think the group is in a gradual slowdown, he said.
