MEMORY CHIP PROSPECTS LOOK POOR IN FAR EAST

Despite all that recent investment in new plants, the short-term prospects for memory chips in the Far East look somewhat grim. The South Korean government said on Monday that export prospects were poor because of the low international price for 16Mb dynamic RAM chips, and the share prices of Samsung Electronics Co, Hyundai Electronics Industries Co and LG Semicon Co all slipped as a result.
