Memorex Telex International NV reports from its US headquarters in Tulsa, Oklahoma that it plans to introduce Automated 18-Track Libraries for users of IBM Corp’s VSE operating system. The company plans to offer VSE support for its 5200 and 5400 libraries in the first quarter of next year, but initially users will have to be running VSE as a guest under VM – in other words the system will require the peripheral control features of VM, and they will need Computer Assocaties International Inc’s CA-Dynam/T VSE tape management software; a native VSE version is planned. An entry-level library system automates the handling of 658 cartridges and the capacity can be expanded to over 5,000 cartridges in a single system.
