MEMOREX COMMITTED TO INDEPENDENCE

By CBR Staff Writer

Equally bad timing was shown by the new Memorex Corp, which chose the opening day of Which Computer? to helicopt a party of journalists down to Leeds Castle to introduce the company in its new independent guise: the details of the company’s plans will keep for a day or two, but Memorex definitely intends to float its shares in London – in 18 to 20 months’ time, and prizes its hard-won independence so much that it rejected finance for its buy-out from a major European company that some suggest was Siemens; it has plans to acquire third party maintenance and leasing businesses to power a rapid expansion in Europe.
