Memorex Products, the Santa Fe Springs, California-based supplier of optical storage media, computer peripherals and accessories, has launched what it claims to be the fastest rewritable CD drive on the market, the CD-RW6424. The company, which is a subsidiary of Memtek Products Inc, described the new model as an all-in-one CD-RW, CD-R and CD-ROM drive. The internal drive operates at speeds of up to 6x4x24, it writes at 6x, rewrites at 4x and reads at 24x. The CD-RW6424 comes with the EasyCD Creator and Direct CD software packages from Adaptec Inc as standard, enabling users to copy from one disk to another and to use the kit as a floppy drive for rewriting CDs.
