MEMC INVESTS $250M IN WAFER FACILITY

MEMC Electronic Materials Inc is investing over $250m in new production and manufacturing facilities to speed up the development of 300mm silicon wafers. MEMC, based in St Peter, Montana, expects to begin production at the new facilities from the third quarter, 1998. It started building last month at Utsonomiya in Japan, alongside its existing manufacturing facilities for the 150mm and 200mm wafers.
