Mellanox, GigaSpaces enter into partnership

To provide accelerated transaction services for financial applications

By CBR Staff Writer

Mellanox Technologies, a supplier of connectivity services for data center servers and storage, and GigaSpaces Technologies, a provider of application platforms for Java and .Net environments, have teamed to provide accelerated transaction services for financial applications.

According to Mellanox, the ConnectX adapters include Virtual Protocol Interconnect (VPI) technology which enables connectivity to 40Gb/s InfiniBand and 10Gb ethernet connections within the same adapter. VPI enables I/O infrastructure flexibility and future-proofing for data centers and high-performance computing environments. VPI-enabled ConnectX adapters facilitate any standard networking, clustering, storage, and management protocol to operate over any converged network with the same software infrastructure.

GigaSpaces XAP is a next-generation application server which enables predictable application scalability on-demand. XAP allows businesses and developers to predictably scale systems under any peak demand, guarantee performance under any data processing load, and leverage the economies-of-scale offered by virtual computing environments such as clouds and grids, said Mellanox.

Wayne Augsburger, vice president of business development at Mellanox, said: ConnectX VPI adapters provide leading server and storage I/O performance with flexibility to support the myriad of communication protocols and network fabrics over a single device, and without sacrificing functionality when consolidating I/O. This demonstration with GigaSpaces proves once again that Mellanox VPI-based connectivity solutions add new levels of performance in demanding data center environments.
