8 MW power system and up to 200 GB/s bandwidth capacity

By CBR Staff Writer

Russia-based telecommunications provider MegaFon has established a new Tier 3 data centre, in the city of Samara, Russia.

MegaFon claims that the new data centre is the largest facility in Russia and will be backbone of the future of national data centres network.

The Samara data centre is built on a 74,400sqft of space and marks completion of the company’s $30m project launched two years ago.

The new facility features six server halls of 400sqm, main and redundant power supplies and a control centre, up to 200 GB/s bandwidth capacity in energy-saving mode, and a 8 MW power system.

In addition, it utilises multiple diverse fibre-optic connections to ensure connectivity and operational sustainability of its own network and its clients’ infrastructure.

MegaFon COO Valeriy Ermakov said, this is the first time that a new data storage and transmission facility of this size has been built in Russia for commercial use.
