Media Cybernetics unveils new version of image analysis software

Comes with microscope and stage automation tools

By CBR Staff Writer

Media Cybernetics has unveiled version 7.0 of its Image-Pro Plus, the image processing and analysis software package.

The company said that users of version 7.0 now have the option to add the Live Tiling and EDF module which allows acquisition and tiling of images and in-focus composite images live.

In addition, the new Just-in-Time Loading feature reportedly saves time by loading multi-frame image sets on demand, resulting in fast load and play times.

This feature is available for Image-Pro sets, sequences, and TIFF sequences. The Image-Pro load time can open any size set at the speed of a single image.

The version 7.0 includes microscope and stage automation tools which were earlier available only as add-ons. Users are able to control microscope stages in any X, Y, or Z direction and control motorised filter wheels, shutters, filter sliders, and lamp settings, Media Cybernetics added.

Reportedly, automation speeds were improved for the microscopy hardware which includes: Prior ProScan Controllers, Olympus Microscope Stands (BX-61 and IX-81), Sutter Lambda 10-3, and Ludl MAC.

Other new features include the optional 3D Surface Inspector tool which allows researchers to explore z-stacks using manual measurements. In addition to quantitative analysis tools, users also can create illuminated 3D visualisations and AVI animations to share with others.

Kathy Hrach, product manager at Media Cybernetics, said: “This major version upgrade provides faster image handling, multi-dimensional acquisition improvements, new surface analysis tools, and the option to acquire live focused and tiled images.”
