Sun Microsystems Inc’s Scott McNealy was thoroughly dismissive yesterday of Hewlett-Packard Co’s recent move into the embedded Java space with its own thin Java clone that it licensed to Microsoft Corp back in March: I’ve never seen it; I’ve never met a human being who has seen it…it’s a non-event, he declared. If it doesn’t have the coffee cup logo on it, it isn’t Java, he said. HP last month stepped back from its earlier confrontational position by saying that it will accept the ISO standardization of Java, if it happens, rather than try and get its version standardized via a different route.
