HealthCom’s applications offer a simplified patient billing experience via a ‘virtual business office,’ featuring online self-service and consolidated billing on a single statement.

McKesson says the HealthCom acquisition addresses the primary cause of consumer dissatisfaction with healthcare delivery – confusing and complex patient bills – complementing McKesson’s revenue cycle management products and services that help organizations optimize revenue capture, shorten payment cycle time and free funds for strategic investment.

The acquisition of HealthCom supports McKesson’s involvement with the ‘patient-friendly billing’ initiative, which is spearheaded by the Healthcare Financial Management Association in partnership with the American Hospital Association and other consulting groups.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
