MCI Communications Corp is to offer switched local telephone service in six further US markets – the District of Columbia, Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Cincinnati and Fort Lauderdale, bringing to 31 the number of major markets where it offers facilities-based local phone service. The company says it is also planning a big expansion of its local switched networks in New York City, Baltimore and Seattle.
