MCI SHAREHOLDERS APPROVE BT MERGER

In a step forward that was widely anticipated, MCI Corp shareholders overwhelmingly (77%) voted Wednesday to approve the company’s merger with British Telecommunications Plc. BT’s shareholders will vote on the merger at an April 15 meeting and a spokesperson for MCI said he expects the deal to be complete by next fall.
