MCI Communications Corp realigned its organisation to consolidate US operations, setting up a new unit to oversee its international alliances and business with multinationals and putting greater emphasis on emerging technologies and services; Gerald Taylor, who was president of MCI Consumer Markets was named executive vice-president and group executive of MCI Communications Services, a new unit responsible for US operations and MCI’s core long distance business; Eugene Eidenberg, who was executive vice-president for corporate strategy and global business initiatives, was named to head MCI International Group, responsible for managing international alliances; MCI eliminated the post of president and chief operating officer as part of the move to more autonomous operatons.
