MCI SET TO LAUNCH BT’S WIREPLAY TO US CUSTOMERS

By CBR Staff Writer

MCI Communications Corp has announced details of the Wireplay on- line games service that it will launch on October 1, 1997. Wireplay will be available exclusively to MCI Internet customers in the US for a limited launch period up until the end of the year. Wireplay was originally developed by British Telecommunications Plc and has been available in the UK since October 1995 (CI No 3,034). The service lets players of personal computer games meet and play over a network platform. To play, customers dial into the Wireplay service and select a game. The service will then find and connect the customer with opponents to play with.
