MCI COMMUNICATIONS ABANDONS DATA-TRANSPORT NETWORK SERVICE

Public packet-switched networks are not such hot properties in the US these days: after landing just one customer, the Security Pacific bank, for its four-node Data-Transport network, MCI Communications has decided it wouldn’t pay for it to add further nodes to the ones in Washington, St Louis, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and is abandoning the service.
