Washington, DC-headquartered MCI Communications Corp has announced that it is conducting customer trials of its networkMCI nationwide Asynchronous Transfer Mode test network. The trial will include applications ranging from desktop videoconferencing for brokers to interactive medical imaging for doctors and remote visualisation for scientists. MCI said that New York broker Bear Stearns & Co Inc, and The Analytical Sience Corp Reading, Massachusetts arm of Primark Corp and provider of applied information technology, are in the process of testing out Asynchronous Transfer Mode applications on the test network, which uses Northern Telecom’s Magellan Gateway Asynchronous Transfer Mode switch.
