It is no secret that Pertec Computer Corp has been on the market for the best part of three years now – NCR’s ADDS unit almost bought it in November 1984 – but the prospect that Point 4 Data Corp will win the company and become another serious contender in the Pick market (CI No 609), has galvanised the leading Pick-poppers, and a whole string of companies have reportedly made serious inquiries to Volkswagen about its last remaining computer property.
