McCAW UNIT JOINS ROGERS ON AIR-TO-GROUND TELEPHONY

McCaw Cellular Communications Inc has teamed up with Rogers Cantel Mobile Communications Inc, Toronto on air-to-ground telephony. Claircom Communications Group LP, owned by McCaw, has reached agreement under which Cantel will buy 10% of Claircom and Claircom will take a 20% stake in a Canadian air-to-ground communications service. Claircom’s AirOne digital service will be offered in Canada through a ground station network integrated with its US one to provide seamless service.
