McCAW, SOUTHWESTERN BELL TEAM ON CELLULAR ONE BRAND

Kirkland, Washington-based McCaw Cellular Communications Inc and St Louis-based Southwestern Bell Corp have agreed to pool their resources to take McCaw’s dream of a seamless US-wide cellular phone network a big step nearer to reality. The two have formed Cellular One Group to work with all licensees of the Cellular One name, widely used by both McCaw and by Southwestern Bell outside its own territory, to set a uniform quality of service, code of practice and national brand. Southwestern contributed the name, McCaw put up an undisclosed sum in working capital. The Cellular One name is already used in 304 markets covering 86% of the US population..pl 63
