Santa Clara, California-based McAfee Associates Inc will start shipping version 5.2 of its NetTools Windows Desktop Management Solution for managing NetWare networks. The new version is said to add support for the NetWare Directory Services of NetWare 4.X, as well as additional global management capabilities for NetWare 3.X networks, enabling users to set application rights and privileges to groups of servers. Before, this had to be done on a server-by-server basis. Unusually, McAfee charges for the product on a subscription fee basis. A two-year licence is from $30 per node for 50 nodes to $28 per node for 1,000 nodes and will be available through retail channels, Internet, and on-line services including Compuserve and America Online.
