The two companies plan to leverage McAfee’s consumer desktop security products and RSA’s Adaptive Authentication offering to help enable financial institutions provide more comprehensive protection for banking and online transactions.
McAfee’s real-time security-as-a-service consumer products and RSA’s authentication technology will be engineered to communicate with each other securely to enhance authentication of the legitimate user to their financial institution and provide powerful protection for the identities of online banking consumers.
We know that consumers are very concerned about identity theft and online fraud to the point that it has limited online banking activity, commented Mark McArdle, SVP of McAfee consumer products. With this strategic partnership, McAfee and RSA will be able to provide customers with powerful protection and the confidence that will allow them to pursue their online activities with peace of mind.
This strategic partnership raises the bar for online banking protection by leveraging input from desktop applications in a server-based authentication solution, added Christopher Young, vice president and general manager of consumer solutions at RSA. We see great potential in expanding this planned joint offering in multiple ways that will benefit both of our customers – the financial institutions – and McAfee’s users.
