Robert Maxwell’s British Printing & Communications Corp – soon to be Maxwell Communications Corp – has bought the English language high-tech news service division of ODS, a Japanese market research and information company, and has formed a new joint venture company with local educational information services company IPEC: the new 50%-Maxwell company, called Comline International and capitalised at $2.1m, will improve and widen scope of the news delivered internationally, using cable and satellite communications; links to Pergamon Infoline Orbit are likely, to create a large on-line database of Asian news.
