MATSUSHITA PLANS NEW WELSH PLANT

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd will be making more of it in Wales: it yesterday announced plans for a new 13m pound plant to produce electronic components in Port Talbot, Wales. Construction is expected to start next month, with operations due to begin in January 1998. The number of jobs planned were not given, but the new plant is to make switching transformers, choke coils and car loudspeakers, the firm said.
