No financial details of the deal have been disclosed so far, but the Japanese firm will be integrating the Series 60 Platform software into its multimedia phones that use the Symbian operating system as soon as possible.
The success of the platform marks Nokia’s triumph in software design as well as handset manufacturing. The software has been heralded as the Windows of the 21st century and could throw a spanner in the works for Microsoft, which has itself been attempting to crack the mobile phone software market.
