The IT services division of France’s Lagardere group, Matra Datavision, has been awarded a 5-year contract worth 70m euros ($82m) by carmaker Renault Automobiles, becoming the latter’s prime contractor for CAD/CAM/CAE services.
The project to be carried out is part of a major re-engineering and expansion process at Renault, leading to the creation of what the client calls an ‘extended digital enterprise.’ The contract will require Matra to ensure migration of the vehicle manufacturer’s existing CAD/CAM/CAE software to a new Catia platform, supplied by Dassault Systemes SA.
As such, said Matra, it will become Renault’s worldwide business partner for IBM and Dassault Systemes, as well as the sole provider to the automaker of all engineering software systems from the other two companies, as was defined in a recent cooperation agreement signed with the other two IT concerns.
